You’re allowed to change your approach

Well, that’s not working.

So, try another way.

Ask for suggestions.

Find out what has worked before.

Find out if it is working elsewhere.

Question those that do it every day.

Read up on it.

Analyse the problem some more.

Get others involved.

Be open to feedback.

Spend some time researching.

Have someone else look at it.

The objective or target remains the same.

The approach and tactics can change.

“Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.” –  Tony Robbins

“You must change your approach in order to change your results.” – Jim Rohn

Avoid the third process

There’s the process that happens now.

There is an improved process to be implemented.

Provide clarity on changing from one to the other.

If it is not clear, a third process will be introduced.

The confused process.

“If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, you don’t know what you’re doing.” – W. Edwards Deming

Show and share

Show someone the ropes.

Give them the lay of the land.

Get her across the approach.

Give him an orientation.

Get them up to speed.

Help them sort out what’s what.

Give them the rundown.

Show the way.

Give the lowdown.

Share your knowledge.

“Your value will be not what you know; it will be what you share.” — Ginni Rometty

Habit 5 … a reminder

Rushing to communicate.

Wanting to be heard.

Getting the point across.

What if the recipient isn’t ready to hear?

Doesn’t want to hear?

Or your point simple doesn’t matter to them?

Seek to understand, first.

Listen.

Actively listen.

Really listen.

Really understand.

Then seek to be understood.

“Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” – Dr. Stephen Covey
