habit

The excitement of day one

Day one of …

… a new habit.

… eating better.

… moving more.

… the dream job.

… being a parent.

… reading a book.

… keeping a journal.

… following a budget.

… creating something.

… a challenging project.

… giving up … whatever.

… learning something new.

… a meaningful relationship.

… building your own business.

… the rest of your incredible life.

Oh, how exciting.

Okay, now for day two.

“Nothing is stronger than habit.” – Ovid

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucius

“Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character.” – Vince Lombardi

Until it becomes all the time

You start something new.

First time.

A new habit.

Second time.

A new behaviour.

Five times.

Great!

Six times.

Now, keep going.

Ten times.

Keep building competence.

Twenty times.

And confidence.

Thirty times.

Until the new becomes ingrained.

Many times.

It is simply what you do.

All the time.

“Quality is not an act, it is a habit.” – Aristotle

“For a habit to stay changed, people must believe change is possible.” – Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do, and How to Change
